Into gear

I re-arranged my study the other night, in the hopes that putting my desk on an angle in front of the corner near the bookshelf would induce a new wave of productivity and excitement within me.  In some respect, I failed dismally.  Even though I had a story to finish up and send off, I still managed to procrastinate from Wednesday afternoon right up until this weekend.  I pictured myself failing before I'd even begun, despite the fancy new angle of my desk.

The good news is that I finally got my act together and edited the story... and it went a lot better than I had anticipated.  Once I started the whole process of editing, it went incredibly smoothly.  I fixed up bits that needed a good seeing-to and managed to work in hints for the plot with much more ease than I had imagined possible.  And now I'm annoyed that I didn't start way back in the middle of the week, because who knows what I could have accomplished while I was buoyed up on this wave of positive thought?

Bah.

. I pictured myself failing before I'd even begun *points* That sounds like the problem right there ^_~. Maybe you should try and re-arrange your mental image, instead of your work area? By that I mean to say that it sounds like you need to picture yourself nor failing, but succeeding, or at least doing. Hope that made sense. It did in my head, but now I've tried to put it down in words...well, I think you know what I mean (I hope!). Good luck! ^_^

That really is my biggest problem - I always look on the negative side. You're right in saying that I need to re-arrange my mind more than I need to re-arrange my study. I shall do my best. :)

Hey, recognizing that you need to, is one step in the right direction already ^_~. And I'm sure that if you asked him to do so, your Tim (I think that is his name lol, my apologies if I remembered wrong) would poke you into remembering to think positive instead of negative ^_^
