It's Thursday! Again! This means it's time for my Wednesday vlog to be posted, of course. And here it is:

It's long.

I thought, when I'd finished, that I'd been talking for a couple of minutes.

"Oh yes, indeed you have," agreed Windows Media Player. "Five and a half minutes, to be exact."

FIVE. AND A HALF. MINUTES.

And then I had stuff to add at the beginning and end, of course. So it's closer to six minutes now. I'm really not sure how I managed to ramble on for that long.

Things of note: frizziness of hair. Oh, how I love this. Especially since I put stuff in it this morning that was supposed to fight this frizziness on its own terms. If there's any frizz-fighting going on, it's at a level far too subtle to be noticed by human eyes.

Also: background noises! I could not believe how many there were when I played the video back. Seriously. You can count for yourselves, but I heard: 1. computer fan, 2. random traffic outside, 3. garbage collection, 4. various types of birds, and 5. bonus aeroplane flying over at one point.

As I said before, awesome dalek (sp?). Also nice excerpt, you should work on it more. I know that any minute now I'm going to get off the internet and do some writing. Except for first I need to do some laundry, and have lunch. And finish up some emails...

Thanks for your comment on the excerpt, too. The thing I've written is sort of like a trailer for the... whatever the hell this project is going to be. So the part I read was like a small scene from the trailer. It's probably going to be the most difficult story to write because I believe the whole "project" depends on what happens in this piece.

Hee. My first video I had eight minutes of footage to cut. I think I have closer to ten this time, but we'll see what we can do about cutting. I'm hoping I did better on ums, but i haven't watched it yet. /o\ I think you did really well on this one though! And I agree about Writer's Distraction.

Maybe the frizz would be somewhat less if you weren't sitting in front of the window? I'm not entirely sure though. Testing various positions should be made easy with that shiny new notebook.

I liked watching you sit there and talk like a noob ;P It's really nice to put a face, voice, and expressions to the journal entries.

Also, GET WRITING! (You have written more words that 5am walks I have undertaken, however, so you win)

I was trying to find something to cut, but there didn't seem to be a natural point where I could do it. But, wow, eight extra minutes? That's impressive. Post the whole ten minutes! It'll be fun. :D

Writer's Distraction is a serious problem. And no-one ever seems to be able to offer advice other than Just get over yourself and write. It's advice I shold probably be following, really.

Yes, that's a good point. Unfortunately, the better quality webcam is on my desktop and I don't have much choice about where that goes. Ah well - perhaps I can just close the curtain behind me a little more. We shall see.

Yes! There's better volume control on this webcam, plus surferartchick showed me how to adjust the volume in Movie Maker. So yay! And thanks for your compliments. :) I kinda of like having a chance to read my own writing - I think it gives me an opportunity to put my intended meaning across more clearly.

I think it's mostly the weather that's making my hair go frizzy. Hopefully it'll look a bit better by next week...

Getting to watch your vlogs is SO FUN! It's really interesting and I feel like I'm getting to sit in on some cool writerly chat or something. Except I don't have to say anything and it doesn't matter that my hair is resembling that of a woolly mammoth.

Plus: I feel SO HAPPY that your word count isn't in the several thousands. It makes me feel better about mine. I'm not the only one who's still getting into the swing. Yay!

Yes, I've found it helps people to hear me if I make my videos audible. :D Luckily, it just involved tinkering with mic settings and volume settings in Movie Maker.

You're too lovely! Thank-you so much - you make me feel a lot better about improving and trying to make my future vlogs more interesting. :D And goodness, could you even really worry about your hair in the face of mine?

I'm going away to visit my parents this weekend, so I'm really hoping that will give me a chance to write some more. Plus, I had a million fantastic ideas for my story on the bus and have really inspired me! But yes, it's taking a while to get going. I'm so jealous of the people who have their act together already! rhianon76 met her monthly quota yesterday or something! She's amazing.

Oh yes - I always try to carry a notebook with me. My notes from the idea session are a bit wonky from being written while on a bus, but at least I have them. :D
