katiefoolery: (Inspiration)

Last night, as I was lying in bed or, more accurately, on a mattress on the floor due to the fact that our new bed was caught up in the stupid mattress fire and the replacement isn't likely to arrive within the next two weeks...  Anyway, as I was lying on this aforementioned object, I asked myself what I'd like to achieve by the end of the week.  It was only Tuesday after all; there was plenty of time to get something done by the time Friday comes to a close.

And strangely enough, a small voice said: Write a story.

I say "strangely" because, as I've no doubt mentioned (at length) several times before, I seem to have been writing out of obligation of late.  In fact, the last story I wrote for myself was probably Ever Again and that was a couple of years ago now.

So, after I checked to see if my Timothy was hiding behind the door, speaking in a squeaky voice in an attempt to convince me my subconscious was talking to me, I had to come to the conlusion that I actually wanted to write a story.  For myself.

I'm still amazed about it.  I was fully expecting to come up with vastly different responses to my internalised question.  Such as "nothing" or "design a new journal layout" or "spend some quality time throwing rubber bands at the cat".  But no.  My subconscious made a decision on its own and completely surprised me with it.

Stay tuned for Friday, my friends.  I might actually have written something!

*joyful dancing* Writing for yourself is a lovely, lovely thing. Listen to your subconscious, for I suspect that you will gain more satisfaction from writing than you would from throwing rubber bands at the cat.

...

Though throwing rubber bands at the cat sounds oddly amusing. I must try that sometime.

It's even more fun when the cat decides to throw the rubber band herself. At the moment, it's Pickle's favourite toy. The other night, she came into the bedroom carrying her rubber band in her mouth. Silly cat.

Hopefully, today will be a slow day at work (no students!), so I might get to work on this story.

slow day

Well, if you are to have the story done BY friday as opposed to doing the story DURING friday, you had best get started:)

*laughs* Loki likes twist ties, but he also has a much-battered plaid mouse with catnip in it (a hand-me down from a cat that has, sadly, gone to kitty heaven) that he can toss up in the air and chase. He loves that toy more than any other.

*shoos the students away so that Buneater can work* Shoo, shoo! Pesky students!
