katiefoolery: (Renji wasn't paying attention there)

I’m having one of those strange days where I just like typing.  It doesn’t matter what it is - I could be writing the greatest novel even known to humankind or a list of reasons why I shouldn’t stay up long past midnight on a work night - as long as I’m typing something, my brain and fingers are happy.

Actually, now that I think of it, I probably should write that list of reasons why I shouldn’t stay up long past midnight on a work night.  I really do need more than five hours’ sleep, especially if my cursed cat is going to insist on waking me up half an hour before the alarm.  If she wasn’t so damn cute she’d be right out on the streets.  Although I did feel slightly bad when I accidentally kicked her in the head.  I wasn’t trying to!  She was trying to rub on my legs (universal cat-speak for “FEED ME NOW FOR I AM CUTE BUT ALSO STARVING TO DEATH!”) and I was trying to prevent it as I was still sulking over her waking me up at an unearthly hour... and this resulted in my kicking her slightly.  She didn’t mind but then, she was rather focussed on getting some food out of me.  If she had to put up with a small kick to the head to get her breakfast, then so be it.

And then she knocked half of her biscuits onto the floor and refused to pick them up when I told her to.  She’s such a disobedient cat.

In other news, I’ve been trying to get back to my habit of writing a list of tasks to accomplish each day.  The only down-side is I usually end up laughing at said list by the end of the day, amused by my absolute inability to complete even the simplest of tasks.  So far, I’ve failed to: write several emails, write one hundred words, complete a drabble, make a new banner for my LJ and finish beta-ing one chapter.  On the up side, I have written (and read) several rather long PMs, created havoc in the Survivor game I’m running with [livejournal.com profile] linnet_101, made two and a half banners (although NOT for my LJ) and found the time to curse my iriver at length for failing to have a proper shuffle songs function.

I am achieving things; they just happen to be the wrong things.

I stumbled down our hallway in the dark the other morning, trod on poor Basil with one foot and - as he squawked and leapt up - bashed his head with my other leg on the follow-through.

Dale says he was most offended and took ages to come back inside that morning.

Heh. Today I am meant to be packing and emailing my parents. Instead I spend the last half hour on an absolutely beautiful spreadsheet detailing the weekly prices of broadband plans under a certain cheap provider, in two versions based on different numbers of people paying.

If you like typing today, why are the emails difficult? Poor Bunne.

I know the feeling about making lists and laughing at them later! ^_^

And OMG, disobedient or not, I want your cat. I'm hoping I can get one when I get an apartment next year.

Oh how I can relate to the happy getting-done of all the wrong things!

Hehe! Oh dear. They will insist on getting in the way, though. A little while ago, I did this absolutely bizarre thing where I was sort of swinging my leg over Pickle so I wouldn't hit her and she decided to jump up out of the way at the same time. The result: one rather spectacular aerial kick to the head. It just looked so incredible tha I was torn between feeling awful for Pickle and laughing my head off.

It has a shuffle, it's just daft. My erstwhile iPod mini had the standard iTunes shuffle where it played every song in the playlist in random order until it had played them all. My iriver likes to repeat songs. Three or four times. Sometimes it'll play the same song twice in a row. And then, before it's finished playing all of the songs in the playlist, it'll stop for absolutely no reason at all and sit there looking all virtuous. It's so annoying! I'm going to have to consult the ridiculously lengthy instruction book and see if there's some setting I can alter.

Ah, spreadsheets! A wonderful way to feel productive whilst avoiding all of your actual work.

I took advantage of my typi-ness to get those emails written. So I have actually achieved something list related!

We had to wait so long until we were in place where could have a cat. And then we had to wait until we found the perfect cat. It was worth it though. :D

I also have a feeling I'll be doing some rather hearty laughing at a list again tonight.

Ah, my good Rilla, the true havoc will start with the next challenge. How you will all hate me! I mean, Jeff. :D

She’s such a disobedient cat. that just made me giggle ^_^

I know, it's horrible how we feel when we accidentally kick them in the head (or anywhere else for that matter)? And they always manage to compound on the feeling, don't they?

Actually, the weird thing about Pickle is that she never really minds. I feel bad, but she just goes on as though nothing's happened. She must have a head made of solid bone.
