Mine's similar...it'll be fine for months, weeks, years - then suddenly (usually when I'm on holiday!) it'll bring me down so I can't walk for days.

Is it muscular? Paul finds solace in a tens machine. Nothing like a dose of electroshock-therapy to the offending muscles.
