Because I needed a new addiction. I needed something to distract me from writing. I needed another obsession.

Personally, I blame [livejournal.com profile] surferartchick. After all, she was the one who said, "Hey, Katie, come vlog with us! It'll be fun! You don't really need your soul, do you? No? That's handy."

I'm paraphrasing a little, but I'm pretty sure that's what she said.

Once upon a time, I thought YouTube was for AMVs and for watching subbed anime that you couldn't get anywhere else. Sometimes, on special occasions, it was for looking at old ads with friends and laughing at them. Laughing at the ads, that is, not my friends.

Although I do laugh at them... and they laugh at me in turn.

But no - YouTube is actually a place full of interesting, fun-type people who make videos and vlogs and are intoxicatingly entertaining at times. It's a bit like LJ, except you get to hear and see people instead of getting to know them through their written words. And I'm not saying I prefer one over the other, but the whole vlog thing is still a novelty to me. It's shiny and I love it.

And it's infecting me. Lately, when I'm contemplating ideas for future LJ posts, a little voice at the back of my mind will be gleefully pointing out what good vlogs these ideas would make. And I'm a sucker for it, because I love mixing media. So don't be surprised if some of my posts in the future are actually videos.

Hey, is it horribly obvious and unsubtle segue time? You know what, I believe it is. Here we go...

Speaking of videos, here's my fivedotnerds video for this week:

This one includes a bonus short (short short) film at the end, which involves me acting like unto an idiot, supported in my efforts by my cat, who was seriously trying to steal the entire show. You know you want to see me acting like an idiot. Everyone needs a good laugh every now and then. :D

It arrived safely! Although you know that by now.

I should have added the kitteh to the list of things you'd have to put up with. I hope you're not allergic to cats and/or excessive cuteness.

I see cats as a perk of any place I'd stay at.

Splendid! There are actually two, but you'll never see the other one - Bindi's cat has... issues.

eiiii! Pickles away! Miss that cat muchly.

Anyway, babe, love the Ura, and the way I organise myself is rather pathetically, but my attempts stream from my filofax which I literally have panics if I'm not near. Everything is in that thing, from addresses to chickens and even handy pages which tell me what the date it.

And it is a scrawled mess. There isn't a space on a week gone by or just coming that doesn't have my scribble across it. I sometimes have to flick really far forward to see what the pages looked like before I got my ball point to them.

I'm sure you can get like, a PDA or blackberry or something that does everything my filofax does. But I'm afraid I love to scribble too much. I only wish I could have got my filofax in a different colour other than black. Makes me look too corporate.

She just stole the whole damn show! I actually did two takes of trying to pull the sword out and in the first one, she wandered up to me to try and help of something. Crazy, scene-stealing kitteh.

And I figured if anyone were going to crawl into your bed and under your pillow, it'd be Urahara.

I like the idea of being able to scribble all over something - my diary is way too small. Although I did want a small one so I could take it everywhere with me. The only problem is... I forget to take it everywhere with me. Maybe I should investigate what my iPod can do for me...

Or maybe I should just hire a personal assistant. Hey, you'll want a job when you come back, right? :D

I am almost too busy laughing at your icon to reply to this.

I still have the diary! Even though it's pretty much lost its point... but it has space invaders on it! I can't get rid of it.

She was determined to be in the video, no matter what. Luckily for her, she made it more interesting. :D

This doesn't help with remembering events, but one way I organise is with labels. Like Under my sink there are some plastic drawers, one is for batteries, one is for candles and matches, one is for glues etc. This was I cn always find batteries cos they have a designated home. All my cleaning products (which also live inder the sink) are sorted into labelled baskets eg carpet, bathroom etc.

Champion kitty should be featured on IMDB

Labels are a briliant idea! No-one ever puts stuff back in the right place here, so I may need to invest in some of those. And then beat them about the head with my appropriately labelled blunt object when they fail to observe the labels. :D

Seriously, I had no idea my cat was holding back all of this acting talent. I bet she'd be impossible to direct, though.
