The Grand Opening
Mar. 7th, 2006 10:58 amIn other news, I've finished uploading stuff to my website, so it's probably time to declare it officially open. Please insert the fanfare of your choice, accompanied by a long and/or inspiring speech on the subject of antelopes/bottled water/other (please circle).
Any feedback would be much appreciated. What do you think about the design or the colours? Is the font easy enough to read?
And if anyone finds any of those dreaded typos that I'm sure I've missed, please let me know. I'm rather keen to fix that sort of thing.
While we're here, what else do you think I should include? I'm working on adding a links page at the moment, so I'm open to suggestions for anything you think might improve the site.
Above all: enjoy!

on 2006-03-07 12:04 am (UTC)I'll have to have a read of some of your stories later!
Em
P.S. I just had my first story published (albeit in an online Virtual Series)

on 2006-03-07 12:16 am (UTC)1) Congratulations! Well done on finishedness of website :)
2) Layout is pretty.
3) Why aren't you telling us your full name? I know putting your name online feels weird, but you are working on getting it recognised here, after all. You're not going to be publishing as Katie G... (I assume?)

on 2006-03-07 12:19 am (UTC)It's a cool name. Definitely distinctive and all!

on 2006-03-07 01:59 am (UTC)Also: Oh my god! It's the dreaded typo!
And when I'm lost in a world made made purely from words, I think fondly of that day when I decided to be a writer.
Katie, get on it quick! People can see!
OK, I've calmed down :p
I like your intros and your bio muchly.

on 2006-03-07 02:03 am (UTC)Anyway, another typo: Some of the characters in the story came from a different region from the others and I wanted to convey a sense of their having an, without changing words...
Ought to be another word in there - "accent" maybe?

on 2006-03-07 06:14 am (UTC)Ironically, the last typo you found was caused when I was fixing another typo.

on 2006-03-07 06:13 am (UTC)As Kayt said in her comment, I am actually considering publishing under the name "Katie G". I think it's a little different and it's been growing on me for some time.

on 2006-03-07 12:32 am (UTC)The only thing I think I'd like to see is some links to authors that you like. It's something that I always want to know about authors, but it might just be a me thing.
If you'll excuse me, I've got a speech about antelopes to make.

on 2006-03-07 09:12 am (UTC)One of these days I'll try and make myself a site as well, although I barely know the basics of web design...

on 2006-03-07 10:14 am (UTC)You definitely should have a look at Google Pages (http://buneater.livejournal.com/84883.html) if you're after a website. According to them, if you can use a program like Word, then you can make a pretty website. You don't even have to know any code at all.

on 2006-03-07 10:57 am (UTC)BTW, do you still have those gmail invites?
If yes, can I have one? *purring kitten's eyes*

on 2006-03-08 09:12 am (UTC)Couldn't resist casting my editor's eye over it for the niggly things. On the bio page, second paragraph under the subheading 'What Happens Next' we have the sentence: From science fiction, I moved onto ghost stories, for some unknown reason. This should be on to, as onto means on top of or upon. :-)
According to the current Oz government style guide it's also preferred to hyphenate e-mail, so while it's not exactly wrong it may be something you'd like to think about.
Looks like my dinner is done - I might take more of a read when I have the time to do so :-)
