A Recommendation
May. 8th, 2006 11:15 amMy triumphant return to FictionPress is bearing some very enjoyable fruit. I’ve been lucky enough to find some talented writers and very reasonable people who understand FP’s review system. It’s not all about popularity: sometimes, people actually want feedback. Who would have thought?
In re-visiting the authors on my favourites list, I came across a lovely story by a writer named Flamehail. After reading the two chapters she had posted, I was amazed that I was the only person so far to give her a review. Her style is so confident and her dialogue flows well, coming across as very natural. The story in question is the re-writing of a fairy tale and although she’s only just begun it, I think it has a lot of promise. Her protagonist, Rhoslyn, is well chosen and deftly potrayed.
The only negative I’ve found so far is the amount of people mentioned in the second chapter! She provides a list of names at the start, but it’s still a little overwhelming. However, rest assured that this is a very minor nit-pick. Despite the onslaught of names, I was still captivated by Flamehail’s writing and very much engaged by Rhoslyn, the main character.
If you have a spare ten minutes or so today, I recommend you have a look at Fairy Tale. Please leave a review to encourage the writer to post some more. You don’t need to be a FictionPress member to comment on stories and I’m sure Flamehail would be delighted to receive some feedback.
