What is this?

What could it be? It couldn't... be our new bed, could it? It's a little hard to tell when the picture's so small, so perhaps, just to make sure, we should take a look at some more pictures...

You know, I think it is our bed. On Monday, I had a reached a point where I firmly believed our bed was never going to arrive. However, after four weeks of sleeping on a mattress on the floor, we finally have a real bed again! We can sleep on a real bed like normal people again. That's not to say we are normal people; merely that we behave in a manner roughly analogous with being normal.
It arrived this morning at about ten o' clock and the first thing I did upon arriving home was dress it up in the lovely new bed linen I bought weeks ago, ready for this very moment. I'm quite pleased with the way the stripes have lined up with the right-hand pillow. That's my pillow, by the way.

Here is the bed in a more mellow light. Feaured in this photo are: my lamp, imitating a super-nova and my print-out of Black Fiddle, open on the bed where I'm re-reading it. No longer must I read it on a mattress on the floor! Notice how I've left my pen on the page there, in an attempt to convince you all that I was doing some work on it, instead of lying it artfully open for this photo.

And here is our headless cat. Pickle was trying to work out if there was space for her to fit under the bed. It turns out there is, but I think this looks much more amusing. Our bed comes with a headless cat attached!
I think I might actually get a good night's sleep tonight.

on 2006-05-11 10:35 am (UTC)and you'd better do more work on Black Fiddle Though i did have to giggle when i saw the pic to see how you'd set the photo up. No... that wasn't staged :P

on 2006-05-11 10:36 am (UTC)Bun, back to deception class! You have left the pen lid ON that artfully arranged pen.
That said, I hope you have bounced on your bed lots of times now and are very happy with its welcoming consistency.
Good night!

on 2006-05-11 10:42 am (UTC)Who's to say I don't keep the lid on the pen to keep the ink from drying out?
*looks innocent*

on 2006-05-11 10:43 am (UTC)I've been so excited about this all day. I kept jigging about at the thought of a real bed waiting for me when I got home.

on 2006-05-11 10:44 am (UTC)No, I just realised that having two boxes of tissues beside the bed didn't look that great, so I moved them. I really should have erased them from the earlier shot but I forgot.
I mean, it was the continuity editor's fault. Curse him.

on 2006-05-11 01:44 pm (UTC)Although I'm amazed she limited her search under the bed and not claimed the top of it on sight. Or perhaps she's waiting until you've fallen asleep to do that. ;)

on 2006-05-11 02:11 pm (UTC)...oh my god, I think I just scarred myself. Nomes, I hold you responsible for getting me on that train of thought.

on 2006-05-11 05:44 pm (UTC)I'm so glad to hear (and see) that you got the new bed!
(And glad that Pickle can sneak under, should she want to...)
I love your lovely comforter, by the way. (smile)
In fact, all 'artful' arrangements for photo-worthiness is much appreciated!
Now I'm expecting a report of how nice it is to sleep on. (Nap time?)
(grin)

on 2006-05-12 12:27 am (UTC)I've been waiting so long to put that sheet set on the bed! When I bought it, I was hoping it would be a couple of days, not three more weeks before I could use it!

on 2006-05-12 12:30 am (UTC)I was just listening to a song that has a line that goes: It's going to be cold without your arms - only I was reading your comment at the time and I sang the line as It's going to be cold without your head... Yes - cold and dead, presumably.

on 2006-05-12 12:32 am (UTC)Pickle was having so much fun. She kept getting confused and thinking, "Hey, I used to be able to walk right under here..."

on 2006-05-13 06:44 am (UTC)A similar thing like that happened to my Uncle who is a paraplegic except they had a water bed and it busted so he was sinking down while his wife had to try and drag him out. They were all alright, but it was rather funny.
Were you guys laughing or annoyed?! :)
