So, it’s the first day of September and Spring is upon us.  And I’m almost positive that the hayfever is kicking in already.  Stupid pollen.

Hang on - the first day of September?  The start of Spring?  How did that happen?  Last time I looked, it was about March and Summer was still hanging around, despite the polite coughs we kept hearing from Autumn.  How did it suddenly become September?  Why does the year fly by so damn quickly?

It’s not right.

I’m not ready to get hayfever.

Although I can’t really complain about the prospect of longer days and warmer weather.  Much as I love my scarves, I love it ever better when I don’t have to wear them any more.  But before we know it, Summer will have arrived and the television will be yelling at us about Christmas and how we should all be spending lots of money in this store or that store and I’ll be on holidays, really hoping that I’ll be able to go back to my job next year.

Bleh.

I really wish things would slow down sometimes.  Even though I start the working week on Monday, already dreaming of Thursday (when my working week ends), I still wish it didn’t come around so quickly.  It seems wrong.  I need more of a chance to grab hold of things as they happen and appreciate them and you can’t do that when the days are whizzing around your head like a mosquito on a piece of string.

Is it too much to ask for things to slow down a little?

Although I love Spring, I definitely know what you mean about life whirling by. Something ate this year, and I don't know what or who it is!

I wish I could enjoy Spring more. It's such a pretty season but the pollen just kills me. It's the only season I actually don't like.

If you find out who stole this year, let me know and we'll see what we can do about it. :D

Yes; we could beat them with Very Large Sticks and demand that they give 2006 back. Now.

I'd even be happy just to have a couple of months back. That's not too much to ask is it? :D

This is true. But the other way around! o_0 Still, the year has gone by much too fast.

And my sympathies on pollen allergies...spring looks so lovely 'til you go outside and it ATTACKS!

It really is rushing by. I have no idea what I've actually been doing with it.

I do wish I could like Spring. As you say, it's such a pretty season but it's all a camouflage for the horrible reality of pollen.

I agree - this year has flown by. The jasmine vine in my backyard just about exploded into bloom yesterday, which was very timely of it. That accursed pollen. A pox on the stuff!

Oh no, not jasmine! I hate jasmine! It's pretty but it's so awful. And wisteria's not much better. There's this absolutely lovely bower at my work near the senior library and it's covered in wisteria. It looks wonderful but I absolutely loath having to walk under it to visit the senior librarian. And there's no way around it either.

Bah at years flying by too quickly.

I still have a hard time imagining Christmas in Summer. I don't think I could get used to that lol. And I hear you, the world seems to go by so, so fast now....almost dizzying

The weirdest bit is that we still have all the European-style decorations: fake snow on trees and Santa Clauses in fur suits and hats... Even so, I couldn't imagine a cold Christmas!

Let's hope the year can try and slow down a bit.

that's even odder, from my perspective. Then again... the Hard Rock Cafe in Sydney had a cool pin one year. It was Santa in sunglasses and red bathing trunks, his sleigh being drawn by kangaroos.

Aye, that would be nice, wouldn't it
