Is your friends page taking longer than usual to load? The most likely culprit is the new contextual hover menu which, while fun to look at, slows down the loading of your page considerably. You can turn it off in the Viewing Options menu.

Admittedly, this isn't as bad as the stupid navigation bar. But still.

I don't think anything will beat the navigation bar (and I really hope LJ doesn't try to beat it, either...). It's kind of useless, too - you can already go to someone's main page or profile without a hover menu. The only thing it offered was the option to add them as a friend; but how do you know you want to add them as a friend until you've looked at their journal?

Playing with S2 again?

I can't even work out where i'm supposed to see the stupid menu things. What's the point of them if you need to actually type in the username somewhere in order to see it.... it's just so freakin' pointless... or made for people smarter than me :S

Indeed I am playing with S2. I think this is my ugliest layout ever... and I love it. Is that a bit wrong, to love how ugly something is?

The on-again, off-again nature of the hover was fun, too. And the other times when you'd hover it over the little LJ-guy and a menu would pop up with "Loading..." in it and just sit there forever - they were fun, too.

But it was like playing "let's find the little man in order to get the little box thing menu working thingy" I mean, honestly! the only place you could find the little menu was if you, or someone on your friends page (if you can get it to load) had decided to throw someone some consideration in their post by going buneater how fecking ridiculous is that? What are you supposed to do? So desperate to discover someone's little menu that you write about them in your post? Is that it's purpose?

I'm just baffled.

and this layout is soooooo fugly :P But i am not feeling the love for it that you are. It's a little too fugly for me. Esp. that background. What is it with that bizarre multicoloured square thingies?

And what's the point of it? It shows you someone's default icon (made ugly by a pixel-resize), a link to their profile, a link to their journal and a link to friend them. You can already get to their profile or journal, nobody needs to see a minimised, pixellated version of their default icon and why would you friend someone based purely on their username and icon anyway? It was a cute idea, but it doesn't really add anything to the whole LJ experience...

And yes - fugly with bells on. The background is just bizarre and it doesn't match anything. The colours don't quite co-ordinate... I can't explain why I love it. I fully accept its ugliness and it makes me happy. Maybe it's some sort of reaction to spending all that time and effort making attractive layouts in the past...

Of course, it may be gone by this evening.

Well, in theory. Sometimes it comes up, sometimes it does nothing, sometimes it says "Loading..." forever. But it always slows the page down.

I seem to have killed it with my S2 fiddling.
Then again I have a feeling I might have killed it when the notice came out about it :P

Oh and yes! I freaking rule at overriding that CSS!!

Oh yeah - it's looking good, Rig! All you need to do is deal a quick yet painful death to the inexplicable scrollbar and it will be perfect. And aren't sticky posts the best idea? I do love LJ for that particular introduction.
