Short but... short

I keep writing entries and then scrapping them in disgust.  Weirdly, I feel more like posting fiction on my LJ than actual entries.  Just beware of that in the future.

In other news: my laptop has been returned with a new, fully functional battery.

In even further news: am even more obsessed with Bleach than before.

In dream-related news, I fully blame linnet_101 and crazedturkey for the fact that I had a Stargate Atlantis themed dream this morning.  I don’t even watch the show! How can I have a dream about it?  So yes - ’tis their fault.

I’ve also been toying with the idea of creating a separate LJ account for my writing but I’m not sure if it’s worth it.  To those people on my friends list who have a separate writing account, what are the advantages?  Disadvantages?  Do you recommend it?

I like your writing on your LJ. I don't have a separate account, so I guess I can't give good input, but I know people are fans of your writing (cuz you're so good). I don't mind reading fanfiction on LJ. :)

P.S. I have a quick question that I've always wondered about. On the DBZ fanfic salon...why do people always say Beware of Bardock girl? I'm still a bit new to the forum and I always found that funny. :D Just one-dering.

Aww, thanks! This is why I was wondering if it was even worth starting another journal - I'm lucky enough to have friends who don't seem to mind reading my writing, so it seems to make sense to keep everything together.

As for your question, I'm not sure I actually have an explanation. I only joined about a month before you! Someone mentioned in a recent welcome thread that there always used to be a standard warning about Bardockgurl, so Bdie and I just decided to re-instate it. :D

I had/have a separate journal for writing stuff (it's actually a blogspot blog now, but I haven't done much writing lately), and I really like it. It just makes sense to me to have a journal for specific purposes. But I'm the weird girl who has about a million paper journals, too, so perhaps you shouldn't mind me.

If you created a writing journal, I would totally friend it!

And thanks for your thoughts on the topic, too. I did try to keep separate online journals a while back, but it always seemed to result in my not writing in either of them. Actually, I'm constantly surprised at the fact that I've managed to keep my LJ going for as long as I have. I never managed to keep a hand-written journal for long than a few months.

I say just keep the one journal - I don't think any of your flist will mind, and if anyone does, well that's what the scroll button on the mouse was invented for :P

I tried that, as you know, and failed. I think a big part was that most of my friends, whether they were actually interested in the writing posts or not, didn't quite feel quallified to comment on them. So I felt as though I was being boring, and I still wanted to write about writing, but it was discouraging to do it in an echoing journal.

I still feel a little odd posting about writing in the journal that all the RL people read, and sometimes I put it behind a cut; but it still feels better to put it together.

I do have a separate LJ for posting fanfic, which is kind of a self-protective thing for me. But it's not a fandom-themed journal, I only post fiction there. And a rec archive.

That was what I was considering, really: a journal specifically for posting my fiction, whatever form that might take. But I've been thinking about it a bit more and I think I'd rather keep it all here. I can just view my LJ as one big messy desk with lots of different things to found on it... and I think I can be happy with that.

You've reminded me that I've been meaning to read your fic for ages! I shall go and do that once I've finished writing my comment replies. :)

Tags are wonderful things, too. It's nice to have an LJ which is completely messy and random, but can be transformed into something neat and structured by simply clicking on the relevant tag :-)

Tags are definitely one of the best inventions in journalling ever! I think it probably is best just to stick to one account, purely because it would save on a whole bunch of effort on my part. :D

It's up to you and what you feel comfortable with, but I say keep the writing and other stuff together in the one journal, if you like it that way. For one thing, you're a really good writer and your stuff is always interesting, and for another, writing seems to be such a big part of your life in general, it only makes sense to include it in a blog about your life.

Thank-you muchly, good Sars. I have tried to separate my writing and life blogging before and it didn't work, so I'd probably meet with the same lack of success if I tried to put my stories somewhere else, too.

I'm probably repeating what other people working with dh_chan I have said but with I've found that:

Advantage: I find it more organized than having my writings, art, etc mixed in with regular LJ entries. That was the largest reason why I made dh_chan. And it's easier to organize tags and sorting them into memories.

Disadvantage: There is the whole thing with logging in and out of two separate accounts. Personally I don't find it that much of a bother.

What some people do to avoid that disadvantage is to create a community journal to post their works instead. des_solace is a good example. It's all her own work because membership is closed seeing as the community is used as her writing journal. Creating a 'community' journal to post your works will mean that you won't have to keep logging in and out.

I hope that last paragraph made a little bit of sense ^^; I know what I'm trying to say, I'm just not sure if my fingers brought it across clearly enough.

Thanks muchly for that - I appreciate your taking the time to write your thoughts down. The whole logging in and out thing was something that would have annoyed me, so I was most likely considering a community. I probably will consider it for a little while, too, even if it's just as a personal archive.

Our laptops do everything together, don't they? Your laptop gets a replacement charger, so mine sulks and goes one step further. Cursed thing.

And curse you for giving me Stargate Atlantis dreams! All I remember is strange blue goo, a chair fight and some snappy dialogue. It was fun, though.
