Well, I did mention it in my first vlog: I like shiny things.

And I have a new shiny thing.

New Computer

(Can you see my webcam sitting on the box beside the computer? Doesn't it look like it's staring right at you? I swear, the thing watches me...)

This lovely, shiny thing is replacing my old desktop, which was dodgy from the word go. On the up side, it had the entire Office 2003 suite on it. On the down side, I'm not sure it was entirely legal...

And now, on a completely random note, I would like to know why I look at the keyboard, note where the delete key is... and then press the home key instead. IT IS ANNOYING.

It feels weird to be without a desktop computer. I've always had a desktop computer. It's not as though this one's all that portable, though - it's a desktop replacement computer, after all. I'm not going to be carting it with me to work or anything.

No, that's what my netbook's for. :D

And in other news, I have already recorded my vlog A DAY IN ADVANCE. I'm worried. The last minute is when I do things, not a day in advance. I may have doomed us all to... doom.

I have a similar model, but without the moved-over touchpad. Mine came with camera built in, and is awfully good--do you prefer to have the regular camera? Just curious.

I love my laptop. I did have trouble with it the first month--the monitor literally died. It took about 3 weeks(!!!) to get it back. Been fine ever since. I am completely in love with the widescreen. Now my one at work, which is not one, drives me insane. My desktop is also widescreen (22") here at home.

Enjoy your computer! Grin.

I like the position of the touchpad because it sort of makes sense to keep it centred on the keyboard. Although, I have to admit, when I was first using it I kept hitting the scrollbar on the side instead of the touchpad itself. Most annoying.

It does have a webcam, but it's only the basic 1.3 megapixel business. The one I bought is 2mp, has a decent lens and takes a really good picture - almost like a real camera! Plus, it has this splendid little clip/stand thing, so you have a bit of choice when it comes to where you want it to go.

Going from widescreen to a non-widescreen monitor used to bug me, too! Everything looks so square.

I love it! I can't wait to get my new notebook. :D

Also I try to always film mine before hand because I never have time on Mondays to actually film.

:D

It's always such a hassle to set them up, but once you have it's pure fun! And shininess! Are you getting yours soon? And what are you getting?

I figured it would make sense to try and film it early, since my holidays officially end today and I wasn't sure when I'd have time to do it. But I still didn't expect to actually follow through on the plan!

You doom bringer, you.

Very shiny. Me likes shiny.

I love how you also have those Bleech toys I gave you :D Did I tell you your pretty gift came for me in the mail the other day and it is so pretty? Because it is very pretty and shiny and much appreciated, too.

FEAR ME AND MY DOOM-BRINGING WAYS!

:D

I love the Bleach toys - they sit in front of my LorF seven photo from the last Canberra trip. And yay! I'm glad it got there! I completely sucked at sending everything out in time for Christmas, unfortunately. I don't think I thanked you for your card either, so thank-you. It was doubly-appreciated because it handily gave me your address as well.

Is that a Windows Vista sticker I see?

It is indeed. It actually runs quite well on this machine. The media centre's supposed to be pretty fancy, although I haven't really explored it yet.

Everyone kept telling me that Windows Vista was horrible, but I noticed that the only people that told me that, were people who didn't even have Windows Vista. It's not bad, which is nice. I'm glad nothing is breaking. :]

If you try running it on a computer that can't handle it, it's painful. But when your computer can handle it, it's just another operating system with shiny stuff built in. :D

While your computer is very shiny, I am busy coveting the Renji and Urahara next to it.

MIIIIIIINE! I have an Ichigo and two Kons as well, but they're on my bookshelf.

They were all a birthday present from [livejournal.com profile] flippyfrog (the dalek-knitter) and [livejournal.com profile] crazedturkey (her sister).

DOOOOMMMMM *uses handy doom song icon*

Very shiny. I want a new one too. (IN fact I have my eye on this one (http://www1.ap.dell.com/content/products/productdetails.aspx/inspnnb_1525?c=au&cs=audhs1&l=en&s=dhs) which has absolutely nothing to do with the fact that I can get it in pink *g*

Yep, nothing but doom as far as the eye can see. :D

You need a new one, too! After all, you have 200,000 words to write! And you might as well do it on a pink laptop, I guess. (Mine's black with a neat swirly pattern on it. :D )

I'll be on msn later - first, I have to run, then I have to die (since it's 39 outside right now). And then, obviously, I have to somehow bring myself back to life. I know! I shall call the Flitness! She'll help. :D

Urahara~~~ (gosh, I remember when he just Sandal-Hat, when we'd watch anime on my laptop during genetics lectures! how time zooms.)

Time'll do that, definitely. And I can also understand the appeal of watching Bleach instead of paying attention to genetics lectures. :D

The first episode I ever saw was the one where Renji and Byakuya take Rukia back. Good times, good times.

(I quit genetics later that year, haha.)

Pretty new shiny! Does it have a name?

I have filmed parts of my video, but they are trapped on my camera. (I really should think about downloading all that tonight so I can start editing on Wednesday, though.)

Nah, I never name my stuff. It's just... my computer. But hello saving videos in four minutes instead of ten!

Oh gods, I edited mine tonight and then discovered the audio was out of sync. GAMNGNANAGH! Luckily, I found a fix for it but I did want to destroy Movie Maker for a while there. It's still not perfect, but it's better than before.
